Navigation is clearly an essential skill for any sailor, and sea charts remain as useful today as they were centuries ago. Packed with information such as sea depth, coastline features, details of currents and navigational hazards, a navigation chart can in many situations tell you much more than a GPS device. We stock a wide selection of charts and plotting equipment to make sure you don’t stray off track. A chart’s usefulness is somewhat diminished, however, if you don’t know where you are to begin with: so we also have a great range of navigational equipment. A sextant can be an invaluable tool to an experienced navigator, and modern lenses and designs mean that these devices are increasingly accurate. Once you have finished looking to the skies for help, telescopes and binoculars become incredibly useful for navigation when you have fixed references to work with. Modern binocular prism designs allow for great magnification even with a relatively small pair of binoculars, and many anti-fogging lenses to maintain clear visibility in all conditions.
