Unlike wetsuits, which are for maintaining warmth, a dry suit aims to keep all water out of the suit so that the wearer remains absolutely dry. Watertight seals (now frequently made from neoprene for ultimate comfort) around the wrists, ankles and neck create a completely waterproof outer layer. Although it will generally not provide warmth on its own, the nature of a drysuit means that it can be warn with other layers ensuring comfort and warmth as well as 100% dryness. Drysuits are therefore ideal for particularly cold conditions, where water temperatures fall below 15°C or where staying in the water for long periods of time would make a wetsuit unsuitable. At Mailspeed Marine we stock a selection of great value Gore-Tex and neoprene sailing dry suits perfect for a variety of cold-water activities. The Crewsaver drysuit is a popular choice for its durability and fully breathable material.
